High School Runners Overcome by Heat, Humidity

Print

The heat and humidity was too much for high school runners at a cross country meet near Palmyra.

Two runners were taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital with heat exhaustion and many others were treated at the scene. That includes 6 runners who were given fluids intravenously.

Emergency responders from 5 communities were called to the Palmyra-Eagle Invitational in the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit Tuesday afternoon.

Palmyra Fire Chief Ryan Meyers says the kids were dropping right on the trails.
