Wednesday Wisconsin Sports UPDATE

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP

CHICAGO (AP) -- Ben Sheets is back. The Milwaukee Brewers returned their ace pitcher from the disabled list to a starting assignment in Chicago Wednesday, in hope of turning things around after their continuing struggles. Sheets has been out since July 16th with a sprained middle finger on his right hand and also with a blister on that finger.

CHICAGO (AP) -- It looked like a breakthrough for the Brewers last night in Chicago, but once again it wasn't to be. Starting pitcher Jeff Suppan had the Brewers ahead 3-1 in the seventh inning but was yanked by manager Ned Yost after hitting the leadoff batter with a pitch. Reliever Scott Linebrink immediately gave up an infield single to Mark DeRosa and the Cubs went on to take their 5-3 lead.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The computer says Brandon Jackson is recovering from his concussion and might be OK to play in the Green Bay Packers' final preseason game in Tennessee tomorrow night. But chances are, Packers coach Mike McCarthy will put Jackson in standby mode to save his rookie running back for the regular season.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Under normal circumstances, the Green Bay Packers might already have sent rookie running back DeShawn Wynn packing. He's a seventh-round pick and has been hampered by illness and injury in the preseason. But the Packers are so thin at running back they're giving him a final chance to show what he can do in tomorrow night's exhibition with Tennessee.
