MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have seen a lot of leads disappear this season, but closer Francisco Cordero wasn't about to let it happen this time. With Milwaukee leading 5-3 in the ninth inning last night, the Astros put two runners on before Cordero faced two of Houston's best hitters. First he got Lance Berkman to strike out. Then he got Carlos Lee to ground out to end the game. With the win, the Brewers are just half a game behind first-place Chicago in the Central Division. The Cubs lost to the Dodgers last night.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Brewers and Astros play again Wednesday at Miller Park. Yovani Gallardo is scheduled to pitch for Milwaukee against Albers of the Astros. Gallardo has a 6-4 record, while Albers is 4-6.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- In a move to beef up their relief pitching, the Brewers are bringing back a name from the past, left-hander Ray King. They acquired him from the Washington Nationals for a player to be named later. The 33-year-old played for the Brewers from 2000 to 2002, and is expected to join the team today.

UNDATED (AP) -- The black bear hunting season opens Wednesday in northern Wisconsin. State game managers say about 4,400 successful applicants received permits to kill a bear. Hunters registered just under 3,100 bears last year.
