PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Prince Fielder hit his 44th home run and Corey Hart also connected to support Yovani Gallardo's six shutout innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 last night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Ryan Braun drove in three runs for the Brewers, who pulled a game ahead of Chicago to lead the NL Central Division race as the Cubs lost in extra innings to Houston.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Brewers and Pirates wind up their series in Pittsburgh this afternoon. Dave Bush is pitching for Milwaukee against Tom Gorzelanny of the Pirates. Bush has an 11-10 record, while Gorzelanny is 14-7 this season.

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have sent pitcher Dennis Sarfate (sar-FAH'-tay) to the Houston Astros in exchange for cash. The 26-year-old right-hander was 2-7 with four saves and a 4.52 ERA in 45 games, including one start, for Triple-A Nashville this year.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers signed quarterback Dalton Bell and guard Cameron Stephenson to their practice squad while releasing tight end Clark Harris and quarterback Paul Thompson. Bell is an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M. Stephenson was a fifth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in April.
