Monday Wisconsin Sports UPDATE

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Brewers head to Texas today for a night game against the Astros. Yesterday, Carlos Villanueva pitched seven scoreless innings and Joe Dillon drove in a career-high four runs, to lead Milwaukee to a 5-2 win over Cincinnati. Milwaukee, which scored all its runs with two outs, has won 10 of 15. The Brewers entered one game behind the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Brett Favre picked a near-perfect way to become the winningest quarterback in NFL history. Favre completed his first 14 passes of the second half and threw three touchdown passes to rally the Green Bay Packers to a 35-13 win over Eli Manning and the New York Giants yesterday. The victory was the 149th of Favre's 17-year career and gave him one more than Hall of Famer John Elway.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- The Packers will look to boost their record to 3-0 when they host the San Diego Chargers this Sunday. Yesterday's win over the Giants put the Packers up 2-0, and gave them their first 2-0 start since they won their first three in 2001. The 35-13 loss was the second straight for the error-prone Giants, something that hasn't happened at the start of a season since 1996 -- the year Dan Reeves got fired.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Badgers open their Big Ten sesason next Saturday against Iowa. And some are wondering if they're ready for the Big Ten. Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema knows that the team has to work on defense. At halftime Saturday, Bielema says he told the defense their play was unacceptable. The seventh-ranked Badgers were tied at 21 with The Citadel. The defense responded and allowed Wisconsin to post a 45-31 win and run their record to 3-0.
