The USA, and Wisconsin especially, is known for producing superstar speedskating standouts. But, unfortunately for Team USA, it hasn't been the showing they'd hoped for during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Thus far, Team USA has yet to earn a medal in speedskating. The Netherlands leads the pack with 12 medals in speedskating, followed by Russia and China.
Interestingly enough though, when you look at all the Winter Olympics, the USA is the 3rd best country when it comes to earning speedskating medals.
So what's going on with USA this time around? NBC 15 spoke with former Olympian and gold medal speedskater Casey FitzRandolph to get his opinion.
"I have to wonder, either the training program for a timing perspective and a peaking perspective was off for the team or I would bet it's going to be the later which is you get over there, you get into an environment and you start to hear negative rumblings. It can be very very contagious” says FitzRandolph.
Now, don't fret just yet USA speedskating fans. There's still plenty of action left.
