MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Former Brewers pitcher John Axford will make a virtual appearance at the Milwaukee Film Festival.
Before he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, he was a big supporter of the festival and even donated $25,000.
His donation went toward the Cream City Cinema program for local films and filmmakers and allowed the filmmaker in residence cash prize to double to $5,000.
Axford pre-recorded his introduction to the film he selected -- Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" and it will be played Saturday night before the film.
Axford has a bachelor's degree from Notre Dame in film and TV.
There was a chance Axford could appear but the Cardinals made it into the post season.
