A 6th straight win finally gave the boost the Badgers needed in the BCS rankings but they still are on the outside looking in for a BCS bowl game with one week left in the regular season.
Saturday's victory over Minnesota 20-7 at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, kept the Badgers unbeaten since a 31-24 loss at Ohio State on Sept. 28th. Wach of UW's 6 straight wins has been by at least 10 points.
The Badgers (9-2 overall, 6-1 Big Ten Conference) greatly boosted their at-large chances for a BCS bowl game and made their biggest leap on Sunday, moving up four places to No. 15. That makes the No. 14 spot, which is required for consideration for an at-large berth, suddenly well within reach.
The Badgers still need some help, but they are not the long shots they were just a couple of weeks ago.
The Badgers close out their regular season at home against Penn State (6-5, 3-4) on Saturday.
Michigan State (10-1, 7-0) advanced out of the Legends Division to face Leaders Division champion Ohio State (11-0, 7-0) in the Big Ten Championship game. The Spartans are No. 11 in the BCS and Ohio State is No. 3.
