The National Basketball Association announced today that Bucks guard Brandon Jennings has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Oct. 30 through Nov. 4. The honor is the second of Jennings’ career. His first Player of the Week award came his rookie season during the week ending Nov. 16, 2009.

Capped by a game-winning three-point shot as time expired vs. Cleveland on Nov. 3, Jennings put together two games with career-best numbers to start the season. He matched a career high with 13 assists both at Boston on Nov. 2 and vs. Cleveland on Nov. 3 – the 26 total assists representing the best two-game stretch of his career, and allowing Jennings to lead the NBA in assists per game with 13.0. He also set a new career high in steals with six at Boston, giving Jennings a per-game average of 4.0 steals this season, which is tied for first in the NBA. For the second time in his career, Jennings recorded point/assist double-doubles in consecutive games (21 points/13 assists at Boston and 13 points/13 assists vs. Cleveland).

His game-winner allowed the Bucks to start the season 2-0 for the first time in Jennings’ career, and the first time since 2005-06. With Jennings leading the way, the Bucks are averaging a league-high 29.0 assists per game this season. Milwaukee is currently in first place in the Central Division and tied for first place in the Eastern Conference.
