PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst says the 2-4 Panthers aren't where he wants them to be but is encouraged that the team's problems are "fixable."

Pitt fell to 0-3 in the Big East with a 45-35 loss to unbeaten Louisville last Saturday, a game the Panthers controlled until the Cardinals exploded for 21 points in the third quarter.

Chryst says he can see progress in all facets but his team simply isn't putting it together. The first-year coach is also enduring some growing pains, acknowledging maybe going for it on fourth-down instead of kicking a field goal while trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter wasn't the right move.

Pitt steps out of conference to play Buffalo (1-5) on Saturday.
