MADISON, Wis. -- After leading the No. 2 Badgers to a sweep of St. Cloud State, freshman goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Desbeins improved to 8-0 with a pair of wins over the Huskies. She allowed just one goal in the two victories, and stopped 50 of 51 shots on goal for a .980 save percentage. She also earned her third career shutout last Saturday, saving all 28 of St. Cloud State’s shots on goal.
It marks the second time this year Desbiens has been honored as the league’s rookie of the week, as the La Malbaie, Quebec, native was named WCHA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 4 after helping the Badgers earn a road win at Minnesota Duluth.
Desbiens now leads the NCAA in winning percentage at 1.000 (8-0-0), save percentage at .963 and goals-against average at 0.80 and is tied for seventh in shutouts (3).
