The Kohl Center filled up Thursday night, ready to look back on an amazing season for the Men's Basketball Team.
Officials expected 700 people for the event. Players met with fans and alumni signing autographs and of course talking about the great season, making it to the Final Four, something that hasn't happened since 2000.
This season was a lot different than in year's past, especially by the amount of publicity the team received throughout the year. The main reason for this- the players being really likable guys as well as great basketball players. But they're not done yet, and coaches say they'll be ready to go in the fall for another exciting season.
"The team certainly has a lot of confidence, I think they still think they should have been in that national championship game and maybe they'll have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder because they didn't reach that ultimate goal. They reached a lot of goals this season but there's that carrot dangling that they're pretty hungry to have another chance at next year," said Director of Communications for the team, Patrick Herb.
The end of season celebration completely sold out in just a few days. This event was also an opportunity to say good-bye to the seniors. The team is losing three and they were recognized Thursday night for all their hard work.
