CINCINNATI (AP) -- Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 27-13 preseason victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last night. Rodgers went 12-of-22 for 154 yards while leading the Packers to a 17-6 halftime lead. Running back Cedric Benson made his Packers debut against his former team.
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Mike Fiers takes the hill tonight for the Milwaukee Brewers against Wandy Rodriguez and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Brewers are coming off a three-game series sweep of the Chicago Cubs. The Pirates are continuing their push to make the playoffs for the first time in 20 years.
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- David Freese hit a three-run homer yesterday in the St. Louis Cardinals' 13-5 win over the Houston Astros. Freese and Matt Holliday each had four RBIs for the Cardinals and Allen Craig added three more. The Astros are 0-4 since interim manager Tony DeFrancesco replaced Brad Mills.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency will ban Lance Armstrong from cycling for life and strip him of his seven Tour de France titles for doping. Armstrong yesterday dropped any further challenges to the USADA's allegations that he took performance-enhancing drugs. USADA chief executive Travis Tygart calls the Armstrong case "heartbreaking."
