GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings will not play Sunday at Indianapolis. Coach Mike McCarthy said yesterday that the two-time Pro Bowler will miss the game because of a groin injury that has nagged him since the season opener.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins have fired three coaches and their head athletic trainer in the wake of a second straight last-place finish in the AL Central. The Twins announced the moves yesterday. Longtime bullpen coach Rick Stelmaszek, third base coach Steve Liddle, first base coach Jerry White and head athletic trainer Rick McWane did not have their contracts renewed for 2013.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been investigating counterfeit tickets sold for the Lincoln football game between Nebraska and Wisconsin. The Lincoln Journal Star reports at least 16 fake tickets have been turned in to the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office. Most of the victims reported picking up the tickets last Saturday from a man in Lincoln.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Coaches in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association are picking Minnesota to repeat as the regular-season champion. The Gophers received 11 of 12 first-place votes in the annual Grand Forks Herald preseason coaches' poll. North Dakota -- last year's WCHA playoff champion -- got the other first-place vote and finished second in the poll. The rest of the top five is Denver, St. Cloud State and Wisconsin.
