MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Kyle Kendrick pitched eight innings of three-hit ball yesterday as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-0. Kendrick earned his sixth win of the season after allowing three hits and striking out seven hitters. Brewers starter Randy Wolf took the loss after giving up five runs in seven innings.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Danny O'Brien has been named Wisconsin's starting quarterback. Badgers coach Bret Bielema announced the decision on his Twitter account yesterday. O'Brien transferred from Maryland and came into camp as the favorite to win the job.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Pedro Alvarez's 19th inning home run helped the Pittsburgh Pirates outlast the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 yesterday. Each club used eight pitchers in the game, which lasted 6 hours, 7 minutes. Carlos Beltran went 2-for-7 with two RBIs for the Cardinals.

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Ryan Hanigan's walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth gave the Cincinnati Reds a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs yesterday. The NL Central-leading Reds took three out of four from the Cubs. Alfonso Soriano finished with two RBIs for Chicago.
