MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers outslugged the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-8 yesterday, sending the Pirates to their 10th loss in 13 games. Ryan Braun, Jeff Bianchi, Rickie Weeks, Carlos Gomez and Yovani Gallardo all homered for the Brewers. Garrett Jones, Michael McKenry and Gaby Sanchez went deep for the Pirates.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Quarterback Danny O'Brien posted solid numbers in his debut for No. 12 Wisconsin over the weekend. O'Brien threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the Badgers' 26-21 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday. The transfer from Maryland is trying to fill the shoes of former Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Angel Pagan hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning yesterday to lead the San Francisco Giants past the Chicago Cubs 7-5. Marco Scutaro added another RBI single in the ninth for the Giants. Alfonso Soriano belted a three-run home run for the Cubs.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Stephen Strasburg pitched six scoreless innings yesterday in the Washington Nationals' 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Strasburg allowed just two hits and struck out nine before the bullpen took over. Daniel Descalso hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals.
