Monona Grove was coming off a big win at Fort Atkinson while Stoughton was riding the wave of a dramatic win at home over Milton.
But it was the Silver Eagles who emerged with a 28-14 Northern Badger Conference win Friday night
Stoughton picked up where they left off grabbing a 7-0 first quarter lead thanks to a nice misdirection screen pass play that Zach Krueger turned into a 61 yard romp to the end zone for the TD.
The Silver Eagles finally got on the board on the legs of running back James Connor who covered 44 yards to the end zone tying the game at 7-7.
Late 2nd quarter MG took the lead for the first time as Connor dashed down the sideline 50 yards for the second of his three first half touchdowns.
Monona Grove (3-1) hangs on for the 28-14 win over Shoughton (3-1).
