About $1,000 could get you an all inclusive vacation to the Caribbean or Mexico. But die hard badger fans are willing to spend about double that amount to be in Dallas, Texas for the NCAA Final Four.
"You can't put a price on it for some people," said Kristi McCarthy with Middleton Travel.
McCarthy says their phones have been ringing off the hook. They offer a package including tickets to the game and a hotel for $1,695. She says round trip flights are at least an additional $600, making the whole trip around $2,300.
"We've got some great fans here in Madison," said McCarthy.
A ticket for the game alone was priced at $300 dollars. This is compared to nearly the same price for a season pass and less than $30 for a typical game. But this didn't scare fans away. The University's allotment of 3,250 tickets are sold out, never even open to the public.
"Those were all sold to our donors or season ticket holders," said UW athletic communications director, Brian Lucas.
Students get the best deal-- just $40 to all three games. But the 700 tickets allotted to students are also gone. To get there, 162 of them are hopping on a bus to Dallas provided by the University for just $100.
"We really wanted to offer a safe and cost effective way to get down there," said Lucas. "It's up there in terms of great sporting events in the country that people will be watching."
There is standing room only seating still available.
Friday there will be open practice with all four teams. Saturday before the game there will be an open and free pep rally.
