COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three different Badgers scored and senior goaltender Alex Rigsby stopped all 13 shots she faced as the No. 2 Wisconsin women’s hockey team blanked Ohio State, 3-0, Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.
After a scoreless first, the Badgers (22-3-2, 18-3-2-1 WCHA) got on the board midway through the second, as junior Brittany Ammerman scored on UW’s second power play opportunity of the night to give the Cardinal and White a 1-0 lead over the Buckeyes (11-13-5, 6-12-5-2). The goal marked Ammerman’s 18th on the year, which leads Wisconsin.
Wisconsin tacked on two goals late in the third, as Kelly Jaminski scored her fourth goal off the year off of an OSU turnover to extend UW’s lead to 2-0 with less than five minutes to go. Junior Blayre Turnbull tacked on Wisconsin’s final goal with 1:53 remaining to seal the win.
Ammerman and Turnbull each ended the night with a goal and an assist, while Rigsby earned her 95th career win and her 28th career shutout.
Wisconsin outshot Ohio State 34-13.
The Badgers wrap up their series with the Buckeyes tomorrow at 3 p.m. (CT).
