On the last official day and night of summer a big rivalry turned up the heat on fall as Middleton traveled down the road to Verona Friday night . A year ago the Wildcats got their first win over the Cardinals as Big 8 conference foe's on what was an emotional night at Otto Breittenbach stadium.

But Middleton would not get revenge.

Middleton fell behind 7-0 early but blocked a Verona Field Goal attempt in the 2nd quarter to keep them in the game. Cardinals Quarterback Luke Schaffer called his one number and plowed his way in to the end zone to tie the game at 7.

Verona got the lead back for good when quarterback John Tackett used a QB sneak from 2 yards out for a 14-7 Wildcats advantage.

Early in the 4th quarter Verona finally gets some breathing room as a long drive iwas capped by running back Dom Wise with the 6 yard TD run on 3rd and goal.

Verona stays on a roll with a 4th straight win 20-7.
