Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A spot in the Big Ten title game could be on the line today when Purdue and Wisconsin face off. Ohio State and Penn State are ineligible for the postseason, so the winner could be the front-runner for the Leaders Division championship. The Boilermakers were crushed by Michigan last week. The Badgers have had issues scoring so far.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers will be without one of his top weapons in the Green Bay Packers' big game against the Houston Texans tomorrow night. The team confirmed that Greg Jennings will miss the game due to a groin injury. Running back also won't play against the Texans. Tight end Jermichael Finley and nose tackle B.J. Raji are questionable.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals are returning to the National League Championship Series after a furious comeback. Down 6-0 early, the Cardinals rallied for three in the ninth to stun the top-seeded Washington Nationals 9-7. Next up for St. Louis is an NLCS matchup with the 2010 champion San Francisco Giants.
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers are headed to the Big Apple for a playoff rematch with the New York Yankees. After Detroit knocked off Oakland a day earlier to clinch a spot in the American League Championship Series, the Yankees got past Baltimore yesterday. Game 1 is tonight. Detroit beat New York in last year's Division Series.
