HOUSTON (AP) — Scott Moore hit an RBI single with none out in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting the Houston Astros to a 6-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night. Milwaukee rallied three times to tie the game at Minute Maid Park before losing in extra innings.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop will need surgery on his injured right hamstring, and coach Mike McCarthy says his season is in jeopardy. Bishop hurt his hamstring and sprained his knee in the first quarter of the Packers' preseason loss at San Diego on Thursday and had to be helped to the sideline. McCarthy said cornerback Devon House will miss two to three weeks with a shoulder injury and running back James Starks is "week to week" with turf toe.
SEATTLE (AP) — Former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson shined in his NFL preseason debut for the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle's former franchise quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, on the other hand, was picked off for a touchdown on the first play of the Seahawks 27-17 win over the visiting Tennessee Titans yesterday. Former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn connected on 11 of 13 passes for 71 yards.
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) — Carl Edwards has won the NASCAR Nationwide race at Watkins Glen International. Edwards, making his first series start of the season, beat Brad Keselowski in New York State on a two-lap dash to the checkered flag for his 38th career victory yesterday.
