Sunday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Sunday, October 7, 2012 --- 8:45 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Joel Stave threw two touchdown passes and Wisconsin's running game showed signs of life as the Badgers defeated Illinois 31-14 on Saturday. Stave threw for 254 yards for the Badgers, who rushed for 173 yards at home -- with 96 of those yards coming in the fourth quarter. Ball has 59 rushing TDs in his career, nine shy of the NCAA record. He finished with 19 carries for 116 yards.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Jared Barnett threw three touchdowns to Josh Lenz, who later had a scoring toss of his own on a trick play, and Iowa State won 37-23 at Number 15 TCU yesterday. The Cyclones' win in Fort Worth, Texas snaps the Horned Frogs' FBS-best 12-game winning streak.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) -- Parker Kligerman picked up his first career victory Saturday in the Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. He used a push from Johnny Sauter to take the lead and hung on as a multi-vehicle wreck ended yesterday's NASCAR trucks race in Alabama with the caution flag out.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers have activated defensive end Mike Neal, who was suspended for the first four weeks of the season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Neal was suspended March 13th after testing positive for the prescription drug Adderall. To make room for Neal on the 53-man roster, the Packers waived end Phillip Merling.
