Thursday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Thursday, February 2, 2012 --- 8:20 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Miami Heat 105-97 last night for the Bucks' second win over the Heat this season. Jennings scored 31 points and Drew Gooden added 17 for the Bucks. LeBron James had a season-high 40 points for the Heat, including 24 in the first quarter.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema introduced a 12-player recruiting class yesterday. Bielema kept the 2012 class small, but says he's still happy with the haul. One of the class's most touted players is Bart Houston, a 6-foot-4 quarterback from California.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan practiced with the San Jose Sharks yesterday. The diehard Sharks fan and former hockey player got the chance to practice with the team he loves, and even score on goalie Thomas Greiss. Morgan later thanked the goalkeeper for letting the puck go in the net.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Mark Wilson looks to repeat as winner of the Phoenix Open, which begins later today. The Wisconsin native won last year's event in a Monday finish, beating Jason Dufner on the second extra hole. Phil Mickelson hopes to rebound in Arizona after missing the cut at Torrey Pines last week.
