Tuesday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Tuesday, August 28, 2012 --- 7:55 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

CHICAGO (AP) -- Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart hit back-to-back-to-back home runs last night to lead the Milwaukee Brewers past the Chicago Cubs 15-4. Carlos Gomez also homered for the Brewers, who beat Chicago for the sixth straight time. Cubs starter Justin Germano took the loss after giving up five runs in five innings.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Desmond Bishop's season has ended after the Green Bay Packers placed him on injured reserve. Bishop tore his hamstring in the team's first preseason game against San Diego. The Packers also placed Du'ane Bennett, DeMarco Cosby, Ray Dominguez, Johnny Jones and Shaky Smithson on injured reserve.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema isn't surprised former Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson was named the Seattle Seahawks starter. Bielema says he's been telling anybody who would listen that Wilson would end up with the starting gig. Bielema also says he texted Wilson to congratulate him.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Kyle Lohse won his eighth consecutive decision last night in the St. Louis Cardinals' 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday led off the sixth inning with a home run that broke a 2-all tie. Pirates starter A.J. Burnett lost at home for just the second time this season.
