Tuesday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Tuesday, September 4, 2012 --- 5:55 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Marlins snapped a four-game losing streak yesterday with a 7-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Jose Reyes drove in three runs for the Marlins. Mike Fiers took the loss for the Brewers after giving up six runs in three-plus innings.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Questions remain for the Green Bay Packers secondary heading into the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. While the coaches may have decided who'll play where, the players swear they don't know where they'll be lining up on Sunday. One of the remaining questions is: Who will start opposite Tramon Williams at the other cornerback slot?

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Two bicyclists have embarked on a seven-day, 277-mile journey from the Metrodome in Minneapolis to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Rick and Robin Martinek left yesterday and plan to be in Green Bay by Sunday. They say the trip has been on their bucket list, but they're also riding for a charity that benefits mothers in need.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Rookie Joe Kelly pitched six-plus solid innings yesterday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the New York Mets. Kelly picked up his fifth victory of the year after allowing two runs and five hits. Skip Schumaker homered and Matt Carpenter drove in two runs for the Cardinals.
