Tuesday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Tuesday, October 9, 2012 --- 7:00 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers are looking for answers following last weekend's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Running back Cedric Benson left the game with a foot injury, and kicker Mason Crosby missed a pair of 50-yard field goals. The Packers next face the unbeaten Houston Texans on Sunday night.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema is downplaying the significance of Saturday's game against Purdue. Both teams are in the Big Ten Leaders Division and have a chance to make the title game in Indianapolis. Bielema says the Badgers are trying to focus on one game at a time.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) -- The Carrier Classic college basketball event will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network next month. The event is being played on the deck of the USS Yorktown on the South Carolina coast. The Marquette men's team will be one of the teams participating in the Classic.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Carlos Beltran homered twice last night as the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Washington Nationals 12-4 in Game 2 of the NL division series. Allen Craig and Daniel Descalso also went deep for the Cardinals, who evened the series at a game apiece. Game 3 is tomorrow afternoon.
