Waunakee Rolls Over DeForest 34-7

Big plays highlighted a big win for Waunakee Friday night as the Warriors advanced to the third round of the playoffs with a 34-7 win over DeForest.

The Norskies shutdown the Waunakee rushing attack in the first half, but they could not contain quarterback Will Decorah's arm. On the second play from scrimmage, Decorah launched an 80-yard touchdown pass to Will Helbing to put the Warriors up 7-0.

The Norskies tried to rally a response later in the first quarter, but cornerback Ryan Kruser picked off Kyler Jilot and returned the interception 48 yards for a touchdown. The Warriors took a 13-0 lead after a failed extra point.

Decorah kept the Warriors flying later in the first. The senior quarterback hit Willie Freimuth in stride for a 52 yard touchdown, giving Waunakee a 20-0 lead.

Waunakee extended their lead in the second as Decorah and Kruser connected on a 26-yard touchdown to put the Warriors up 27-0 at halftime.

Decorah completed only four of his passes in the first half, but three of those went for touchdowns.

Waunakee will face either Watertown or Waukesha West next week.
