CHICAGO (AP) -- Nate Robinson scored 24 points last night to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 100-94 preseason win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Richard Hamilton added 23 points and Joakim Noah had 16 for the Bulls. Brandon Jennings, Samuel Dalembert and Mike Dunleavy each scored 13 points for the Bucks.

DETROIT (AP) -- Justin Verlander took a shutout into the ninth inning as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 2-1 last night to take a 3-0 lead in the AL championship series. Phil Coke struck out Yankees postseason star Raul Ibanez for his second save in two games. The Tigers can close out the series tonight.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the injury tells The Associated Press San Francisco Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro strained his hip when St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday crashed into him with a hard slide in Game 2. Scutaro's status for today's Game 3 in unclear. Giants manager Bruce Bochy called Holliday's move "an illegal slide."

CHICAGO (AP) -- Houston, San Francisco and South Florida are bidding for the 2016 and 2017 Super Bowls. NFL owners will vote next May between San Francisco and South Florida for the 2016 Super Bowl. The loser of that contest will then compete with Houston for hosting the 2017 game.
