Wednesday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Wednesday, February 22, 2012 --- 7:40 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Kam Cerroni scored 17 points last night as Green Bay defeated Cleveland State 71-67. Keifer Sykes added 13 points and Brennan Cougill had ten for the Phoenix, who have won three in a row. Cleveland State lost its fifth straight despite 23 points from Anton Grady.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin lawmakers have passed a resolution naming a day for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The resolution designates December 12, 2012, as Aaron Rodgers Day. Rodgers, who wears No. 12, led the Packers to a Super Bowl win last year.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Major League Baseball has tweaked a rule to prevent managers from stalling to give relievers more prep time. The change comes after Tampa Bay's Joe Maddon put outfielder Sam Fuld on the mound for warmups with no intention of letting him pitch. After Fuld tossed his warmups in a game at Milwaukee last season, Maddon brought in the pitcher he wanted.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Deshaun Thomas scored 19 points last night as No. 8 Ohio State topped Illinois 83-67. William Buford added 17 points for the Buckeyes, who shot 65 percent from the field. Meyers Leonard had 21 points for the Illini, who have lost six games in a row.
