Janesville Craig High School announced the hiring of Ben McCormick as their Head Varsity Football Coach Friday. McCormick is currently a biology teacher at the school. Ben has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Education from UW-Madison, where he earned a full athletic scholarship as a quarterback after walking onto the football team.
McCormick brings to the position experience and success working as the Varsity Assistant Football Coach at Craig H.S. in the Fall of 2008. He worked as the Varsity Football Wide Receivers Coach and Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach with Rosemount High School in Rosemount, MN.
According to Jeff Erdman, Head Football Coach at Rosemount High School, and Pete Roback, Assistant Principal at Rosemount High School, McCormick played a big part in turning their struggling team into a team that has taken 2 trips to the State Semi-Finals, has earned 2 Sections Championships, and 1 Conference Championship. Mr. Erdmann states: “Coach McCormick strikes a wonderful balance between getting kids/coaches to perform at his high expectations, while making the experience fun.”
