While Janesville and Middleton got most of the preseason attention in the Big 8 and during most of the hockey season, it's Verona that entered Tuesday night in first place and unbeaten in conference play.
The Wildcats stayed that way after beating visiting Verona 6-1. With the win Verona improves to 16-2-1 and 11-0-1 in the Big 8 and cliches the conference crowns with just one regular season game to play thanks to their win and Janesville's 5-1 loss at Middleton Tuesday night.
