#2 Stoughton finds #4 Spartans superior

For over 2 periods the Stoughton hockey team looked like they would make their first trip to the state tournament a memorable one. But the final five minutes of their quarterfinal matchup with Superior was all Spartans and resulted in a 4-1 loss ending the Vikings season.

Stoughton got a first period power play goal from Trevor Hoth and led 1-0 after two periods against a Superior program making its 32nd state tournament appearance.

But, try as he might, Vikings goalie Andrew Martin could not hold back the Spartans attack the entire game. 4 goals in the final 4 plus minutes resulted in the 4-1 final. Martin made 41 saves with 30 of those coming in the first two periods.
