MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Senior guard Morgan Lass scored 13 points to lead three players in double-figure scoring as Potosi defeated Black Hawk 49-42 in a WIAA Division 4 girls basketball semifinal.
Potosi (25-1) advances to the state championship game tomorrow morning and will play St. Mary Central (22-4), which defeated previously unbeaten Siren (25-1).
The winning Lady Chieftains stumbled to a sloppy start that included six turnovers in the first 2 and a-half minutes. Lass and Alison Tobin scored four points each in the second quarter to give Potosi a 23-21 lead at intermission.
Potosi Coach Darby Blakley said it took some time for the team to adjust and find holes in Black Hawk's full court defensive pressure, but was pleased with the Lady Chieftains composure down the stretch.
