MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Jake Hottenstine scored 23 points to help Bay Port stay undefeated by holding off Beloit Memorial for a 71-62 win Thursday night in Division 1 quarterfinals of the WIAA boys state basketball tournament.
The Pirates led by as many as 14 points in the first half and 13 in the second half but needed to hit 10 straight free throws in the final two minutes to remain as the only unbeaten team in the Division 1 field.
The Pirates (24-0) face Madison Memorial Friday night in the semifinals.
Hottenstine hit two free throws with two minutes remaining that gave the Pirates a 62-57 lead and started the team's perfect free throw shooting down the stretch.
The Purple Knights (18-6) were led by junior Sharod Stone, who had 24 points.
