MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The executive director of the state's high school athletic association says he believes a compromise can be reached between his group and newspapers over coverage of tournaments.

Doug Chickering told The Associated Press Thursday that the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association is open to reviewing the 4-year-old media policies. The WIAA has filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and Gannett Co. after The Post-Crescent of Appleton produced a live Webcast of a football playoff game in November.

Chickering said it is "time for the parties who have the biggest interests in this to sit down and resolve the outstanding issues."

WNA executive director Peter Fox said his side in the dispute would be delighted to talk about a compromise.
