Winning a state title is an amazing feat for any prep baseball team, just getting there quite an achievement. But you could make a case that winning the Big 8 is every bit as difficult. Just ask any of the big three.
One of that trio is Middleton and the Cardinals rallied on the road to beat Madison West Tuesday night.
With the wind whipping out to left the Cardinals got on the board first against Madison West when Derek Layton lined one into the jet stream for a solo homer.
The Regents rallied for a pair of runs in the hold half of the first off of Middleton starter Shane Adler.
But the Cardinals rallied scoring 7 more times to get a bounce back 8-4 win over West. Middleton was coming off a home loss Saturday to Monona Grove.
Also in the Big 8, Verona made their conference debut against Memorial. The Spartans, who were the only Big 8 team to make it to the state tournament last season, scored 4 times in the 6th on the way to an 8-3 road win.
Sun Prairie also won against LaFollette Tuesday.
