It never comes easy in the Big 8 confernece when rivals meet on the diamond. Wedmesday afternoon at Middleton was not different when the Cardinals hosted Madison Memorial.
The Spartans scored a pair of runs of Middleton starter Shane Adler to take a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning but that was the last time the visitors would score.
Adler, who struck out 9 Spartans in his 7 innings on the mound, saved his best for last at the plate. Adler belted a walk off 2-run homer for a 5-3 Middleton win.
