MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Sign state checks, sit on a few boards and track down owners of unclaimed property — the Wisconsin treasurer's job might be the quietest gig in state government.
Five people are vying for the job this fall. Wisconsin voters will start narrowing down the field in the Sept. 14 primary.
Democrats include first-year incumbent Dawn Marie Sass and Madison city budget analyst Dan Bohrud.
On the Republican side, former Rock County supervisor Scott Feldt faces restaurant manager Kurt Schuller and drug task force financial manager Jim Sanifilppo. Schuller says if he's elected he'd actually try to abolish the office.
