HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) -- A Hayward man faces federal charges after being accused of hiring someone to burn down his business to collect the insurance money.

Thirty-eight-year-old Phillip Lanthrop is charged in a six-count indictment with arson and insurance fraud.

Investigators say in 2003, Lanthrop hired someone to burn down Player's Sports Bar and Grill in exchange for $5,000 and some cocaine.

Authorities say he then defrauded his insurer of more than $250,000.

Lanthrop could spend a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted.
