RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Unionized bus drivers have put the brakes on Racine's transit system.

Teamsters Local 43 called a strike beginning Monday over stalled contract talks.

Local president Wes Gable says it's unfair that it came to this, but union members have to protect their families' rights.

Gable says drivers will not be operating the city buses until there's a settlement. The local union includes about 95 transit employees.

The union members have been working without a contract since July 1.
