MEDFORD, Wis. (AP) -- Taylor County sheriff's deputies are investigating a highway accident that left a pedestrian dead.

Dispatchers received a call about 8:30 p.m. Sunday about a person in dark clothes running in the northbound lane of traffic on Highway 13 just north of Medford.

A short time later, a driver called authorities to say he had struck a person on the highway.

The victim was taken to Memorial Health Center in Medford and later pronounced dead.
