MILWAUKEE (AP) — A motorcycle dealer in Wisconsin is offering free shares of Harley-Davidson stock with the purchase of a new motorcycle.
Milwaukee Harley-Davidson will give buyers 100 shares with the purchase of a 2008 model, and 50 shares for buying a 2009 model.
Dealership owner Chaz Hastings says the promotion is generating interest. He says he'll hit his sales goals this month.
Harley shares closed at $16.59 on Friday, meaning 100 shares are worth just under $1,700.
The dealership's Web site lists 2008 motorcycles ranging in price from about $10,000 to $23,000. Next year's models range from about $13,500 to $30,500.
Harley-Davidson corporate spokesman Bob Klein says he's not aware of any other dealers running a similar promotion.
