KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- A defense request to prohibit statements an accused killer made to police has been rejected in Kenosha County Circuit Court.

The attorney for Steven Bringsosen asked a Kenosha County judge Friday not to allow Bringsosen's statements because the suspect hadn't been informed of his constitutional rights.

The 28-year-old Bristol man is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his infant nephew, Korbin Belott, in April 2007. Bringsosen told police he tripped and fell on the baby when he was caring for him.

Judge Mary Wagner says Bringsosen wasn't in custody or arrested at the time he made the statements.

This case is eerily similar to Craig Rettig and Cameron Whetstone. Google it, Rettig was also falsely accused. Only his bond was "only" $36,000, not 1 million.

I see the inside of courtrooms, and it is really eye opening, the medical examiner and the prosecuter and the police are all in bed together. Not looking for the truth, but looking for a conviction, trying to justify their existence. Read the National Academy of Science report on Forensic Medicine. They reinforce my beliefs that the ME and Law should be totally separate and the ME should be a science based organization. Just issuing facts, not opinions.

Beware, the police don't have to read you your miranda rights when you go voluntarily to talk to them, even if they don't let you leave the police station after talking to them. And your statements are still admissable. The cops use this to get around mirandizing the defendant. Judges don't care. I tell my teenagers, sad, but true, don't EVER talk to a cop.
