CALEDONIA, Wis. (AP) -- Officials say federal stimulus money being funneled into Wisconsin's highways is expected to speed up the rebuilding of an Interstate 94 interchange in Racine County by three years.
U.S. Deputy Transportation Secretary John Porcari and Gov. Jim Doyle appeared Friday at the groundbreaking for redoing the I-94 interchange with County Highway G in the town of Raymond.
They said about $529 million in stimulus money will help fund $1.9 billion in reconstruction projects that will create 2,300 jobs in Wisconsin.
The Highway G project received about $20 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Plans call for replacing the bridge over the interstate and rebuilding the entrance and exit ramps among other reconstruction work.
