MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A federal judge has sentenced a West Salem man to three years in prison for making false statements to a bank.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Madison says 48-year-old Mark Heinz worked as chief financial officer for Triton Operations LLC. He allegedly overstated the business' accounts receivable and inventory to LaSalle Bank, causing the bank to overextend credit.
Along with the prison time, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb ordered Heinz Thursday to repay $2.8 million in restitution, starting with a $250,000 payment within 60 days.
Heinz's attorney, listed in court records as Bruce Rosen, did not immediately return messages.
