PESHTIGO, Wis. (AP) -- The family of a 19-year-old northern Wisconsin soldier wounded in Afghanistan says the soldier has died in Germany.
According to his family, Army gunner Steven Drees of Peshtigo was wounded last Tuesday and he died Saturday.
Drees' grandfather, Henry Drees, said Monday his grandson had been in Afghanistan about three weeks when he was shot in the head in an ambush.
He says his grandson, a twin who graduated a year ago from Peshtigo High School, had wanted to be in the military for a long time. Drees says his grandson was stationed in Fort Carson, Colo., and was a .50-caliber gunner on an Army Humvee.
Steven Drees is the ninth member of the military from Wisconsin to be killed in Afghanistan since 2004.

I think a story like this deserves to be the top story of the page, we are all indebted to this youngs mans courage to serve his country..the least we can do to repay him is to make everyone aware of his service and death for our freedom and independence. This story is more important than any shooting that happens in the states..I am very thankful to this young mans family and very sorry for their loss.
