GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Wind and rain have cut power to thousands of customers in northern Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Public Service Corp., the utility that serves the region, says strong winds have causes trees and branches to hit power lines.

Hardest hit is the Minocqua area, with more than 3,300 customers without electricity. The utility says additional crews from the Wausau area have been called in to help restore power there.

In Eagle River, 1,500 customers were without power. In Merrill, 1,300 were without power.

The utility expects to have the electricity restored by late Monday evening.
