ELLSWORTH, Wis. (AP) -- A man with a criminal history in several states has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing from his fiancee in western Wisconsin.
Forty-one-year-old Raymond Jackson was sentenced Monday in Pierce County. Court records say Jackson stole the woman's engagement ring, laptop computer, credit cards, luggage and money totaling $7,600.
The 39-year-old woman told police she met Jackson in September 2008 in Prescott and he eventually moved in with her. They planned to marry in Las Vegas Dec. 31.
Court records say Jackson told his fiancee had a job interview in South Dakota and flew out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Instead, he had used her credit card to book a one-way flight to Hawaii.
