HAYWARD, WIS. (AP) -- A northern Wisconsin tribe near the former hideout of Chicago mobster Al Capone that's now for sale says the tribe is always interested in reacquiring one-time Indian lands.

But the attorney for the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa said Thursday no decision had been made to seek to buy the 407-acre wooded site that most recently operated as a seasonal bar and restaurant with guided tours focusing on the Capone lore.

Chippewa Valley Bank acquired the property for $2.6 million as the lone bidder at a sheriff's foreclosure sale last month.

Bank Vice President Joe Kinnear declined comment this week on any developments regarding the bank's efforts to sell the property.

Tribal attorney Paul Shagen says the land is within the tribe's reservation and within territories ceded to the federal government in 18th century treaties.
